Granting parents/carers patient portal access to their children who are under 16 years old (refer to Child and Adolescent Health: Patient Portals, Health Information and Disclosure – Guidance for general practice.)

— Designated admin staff to check patient portal access monthly (Patients -> Portal Registration Status Report -> select status “Access through family member” and age “under 18”, then click search)

— Remove the parent/carer’s access, and send them an email to inform the removal and to suggest the 16 years old person register their own Patient Portal (Myindici). (email template called ” Removal of Family Access to Patient Portal”)

Granting family members/carers patient portal access to an adult patient, written consent must be obtained. The consent template is called “Written Consent for Family Access through Patient Portal”.
