South Pacific Meats, Malvern (SPM) is a sheep and beef processing plant at Burnham, south of Christchurch. SPM is owned by AFFCO which, in turn, is largely owned by Talleys.

Meat Handler’s Certificate (brief medical):

Doctors
Standard consult with Dr only (pls inquire the price with management) to fill in brief medical questionnaire. This is a brief questionnaire a meat handlers certificate only – the minimum is all they need for an export license . This should take less than 5 mins. Dr to do BP, brief Musculoskeletal (squat, forward flexion, upper limb exam)

Skin exam for dermatitis. The rest is according to the discretion of the Doctor. The main concern is that don’t have anything infectious and that if they have anything like diarrhoea they should have a stool specimen (lab charges apply and we should inform SPM first before we do lab tests) done and be cleared before they start or return to work.

Nurses
Drug testing is required. This is $35 (There is NO audiogram, spiro, blood tests, WT, HT or visual acuity required).
